Azerbaijan's grain production hits record level of 2.4 mln tons

Azerbaijan completed grain and grain legumes (without corn) gathering as of September 1 and 2,334,100 tons of crops was gathered from 860,200 hectares of lands.
Day.Az reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee that the productivity of a hectare made 27.1 centners. As for corn the crops from 43.5% of area made 67,100 tons under the average productivity of 45.9 centners per hectare.

Considering corn, grain production in Azerbaijan has risen by 517,000 tons or 27.5% and hit the record level of 2,400,200 tons.

Azerbaijan also collected 796,700 tons of potato which is 8% higher, 14.900 tons (26.8% higher) of feed sunflower, 967,200 tons (0.6% rise) of vegetables, 361,700 tons (1.6%) melons and watermelons, 256,400 tons (6.2%) fruits and berries, 23.7 tons (6.4%) of grapes, 1,222 tons (22.4% drop) of tobacco and 279,8 tons (38.9% lower) of green tea leaves. Cotton gathering started and 385 tons of cotton was collected as of September 1.

The economies prepare basics of production for 2009 and in this connection plowing was held on 207,000 hectares of lands, which is a 14.1% rise as compared to the last year.

Through 8 months of 2008, 194,400 tons of meat, 922,600 tons of milk, 670,900,000 tons of eggs and 13,000 tons of wool. As compared to the same period of the last year, meat production grew 3.1%, milk-2.5%, eggs - 13.1% and wool - 3.1%.
