
Canada supports Georgia's territorial integrity and its strive for joining NATO, Canadian Deputy Defence Minister Richard Fadden said during a meeting with Georgian Deputy Minister of Defence Mikheil Darchiashvili in Ottawa, the Georgian Defence Ministry told Trend on Wednesday.
The parties discussed the political situation in Georgia, the main priorities of the country's foreign policy and aspects of bilateral cooperation in the defence sector.
Particular attention was paid to the process of Georgia's accession to NATO.
Colleagues also discussed the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and Georgian-Russian relations.
During the visit, Darchiashvili met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow. The prospects for Georgia's accession to NATO and the situation in the country were discussed at the meeting.
Darchiashvili also participated at the International Security Forum in Halifax.
