
Iranian new president Hassan Rouhani has met the presidents of Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Lebanon and Pakistan in Tehran, Iranian State TV IRINN reported.
During the meetings bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed.
In his meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Rouhani underlined importance of the Iran -Turkmenistan- Kazakhstan railway in boosting bilateral relations.
Berdimuhamedov in turn said Turkmenistan will support Iran's policies in international issues.
During a meeting with Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardabi,
Rouhani expressed the hope that the gas pipeline between Iran and Pakistan would be completed as soon as possible. He also said that Persian-speaking countries including Iran, Afghanistan and Tajkistan can expand cooperation in various sectors in his meeting with the President of Afghanistan Hamed Karzai.
The presidents of 10 countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Lebanon, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan participated in the inauguration ceremony held on August 4.
For the first time since the Islamic revolution, the inauguration ceremony was attended by senior representatives of different countries.
On 14 June 2013, Hassan Rouhani won the presidential elections in Iran collecting over 50 per cent of the total votes.
