Armenian-Turkish relations discussed at Turkish National Security Council meeting

22 April 2009 [12:02] - TODAY.AZ
The National Security Council (MGK) will convene to discuss three critical issues -- the developments in neighboring Iraq and a possible amnesty for the members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the normalization of relations with Armenia and the deployment of Turkish troops in Afghanistan -- in its April 28 meeting, reports “Today's Zaman”. The meeting will take place at the presidential palace under the leadership of President Abdullah Gul. “We support overcoming our problems with our neighbors through dialogue. We will neither take steps with Armenia nor with any other state that would make the Azerbaijanis worry. This should be known by everyone. We have a relationship of friendship with our Azerbaijani brothers, different than with other states. This relationship is not based on material gain. As we have expressed before, we are two states but one nation,” says Turkish official source. After the National Security Council meeting President Gul will pay a visit to Baku.
