Russia's policy in Georgia and Azerbaijan is aimed at support of separatism and weakining of independence of these countries, said famous political scientist Hikmet Hajizade.
According to him, this is one of the demonstrations of strengthening  confrontation and weakening cooperation between Russia and West.

"Both confrontation and cooperation between Russia and the United States (or if more correctly, the countries of western democracies) is observed throughout the world in different geographical points and different spheres of intergovernmental relations, including war on terror and nonproliferation of nuclear weapon, sale of military hardware and arms, international trade, energy issues and regional conflicts (including Karabakh)".

According to the political scientist, in all these issues West is ready to cooperate with Russia it does not agree to recognize any "special privileges" of Russia, view it as an empire, a superpower, which has a right to dictate its will to others, while Russia is attempting to keep the past, stating its special role, some privileges, especially in the former USSR area.

"In the result, we see the growing confrontation and narrowing cooperation between Russia and West and Russia's policy in Georgia and Azerbaijan, aimed at support of separatism and weakining of independence of these countries is among manifestations of such a confrontation", said he.

"Unfortunately, it should be noted that Russia's policy in the South Caucasus will continue until Russia and West come to a global reconciliation on the issues, I have listed above. That is unless the issue of Iran, South Kore and new radar stations in Czechia and Poland is settled, Russia will support separatists in Azerbaijan and Georgia", concluded the political scientist.
