Recently, the Armenian media was pleased to report that the
Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives is preparing to
consider and put to a vote an amendment supported by the Armenian National
Committee of America (ANCA), which calls on the U.S. administration to apply
diplomatic, economic and legal pressure on Azerbaijan. Namely, to fully comply
with the requirements of the 907th Amendment until the Armenian criminals
convicted in Azerbaijan are released.
The author of the amendment is Congressman Brad Sherman, one of the few Armenian lobbyists who have not yet been put on trial. The draft, written under the dictation of ANCA, requires the White House to take all measures to ensure that Baku immediately and unconditionally releases the criminals, and if it does not do so, impose sanctions.
As you can see, the diaspora does not give up hope. It has
recently become increasingly difficult to work in the States against Baku.
However, lobbyists and other corrupt individuals from politics and the
scientific world are still at hand.
The so-called Rafael Lemkin Institute for the Prevention of
Genocide and Ensuring Human Security, operating in the United States, issued a
statement expressing "serious concern" about the sovereignty of the
Republic of Armenia. The statement refers to the "threats" allegedly
faced by the Armenian border communities, and quotes an anonymous person from
Syunik: "In Yerevan, they call us crazy for staying here, but they don't
understand that if we leave here, they will be next."
Thus, it can be stated that the project called the Lemkin
Institute has reached the bottom. Not finding any serious reasons to support
revanchist propaganda paid for by the diaspora, this office is now making
panicky statements based on a far-fetched reason and the chatter of random
people. Some resident of the border region blurted something out, and an
organization trying to position itself as a serious international organization
and authority on human rights issues immediately spits out a statement into the
public space. Absolutely meaningless. We are not talking about the fact that
the reason for another slander against Baku was invented by the staff of this
institution, who needed to justify the fee they received. The salary is coming,
but there are still no reasons to show the customers their work activity.
For no reason at all, the Lemkin Institute became worried
about Armenia's sovereignty and began demanding that the international
community "apply the mechanism of genocide prevention to economic and
diplomatic relations in the South Caucasus," regardless of the outcome of
the November 7 elections. Moreover, the office called on international
observers to investigate statements by border communities and "refugees
from Artsakh," including reports of "Azerbaijani shelling of
residential buildings, illegal Azerbaijani outposts established on the
territory of sovereign Armenia," and so on. The Lemkin Institute stated
that the "genocide of 2023" will not be the last, and called on the
world to "take seriously the threats faced by Armenians in the South
Caucasus."..
What kind of fly has bitten these bitten "fighters
against genocides" again? The statement was clearly made just to remind me
of myself. It is strange to read such a thing in conditions when no shots have
been heard on the border for two years, when Azerbaijan and Armenia are
discussing a peace agenda, when Baku has opened roads for the former occupier.
It's very strange.
It looks like the employers have pressed hard. The fees paid
for such chatter are considerable. The so-called Lemkin Institute, as you know,
was created by the Armenian Diaspora of the United States after the Second
Karabakh War. She pays for all the actions of this incomprehensible structure.
The institute was needed to paint the anti-Azerbaijani propaganda in the colors
of the American flag. For this purpose, two professors were acquired - Eliza
von Joden-Forgi and Irene Victoria Massimino, who hardly have an idea of what
is happening in the South Caucasus. For generous funding, they periodically
announce the information space with calls to save Armenians and Armenia.
This couple was not deterred even by the fact that the
President of the country in which they (unfortunately for science and students)
are engaged in scientific and educational activities is involved in the peace
process. Last December, their latest campaign forced Azerbaijani NGOs to
contact President Trump. While he is making efforts to establish peace in the
South Caucasus, some organization of incomprehensible content is putting a
stick in the wheels of this policy. In fact, it is.
By the way, this office has no right to bear the name of
Rafael Lemkin, a Polish lawyer of Jewish-Ukrainian origin, the author of the
term "genocide." Lemkin's descendants did not give his creators the
so-called institute.
Last year, family representatives demanded that an organization called the Lemkin Institute for the Prevention of Genocide stop using the name of their famous ancestor. And this is not the first time this demand has been made. It turns out that the office is also engaged in anti-Israeli propaganda. A year earlier, in an interview with the Algemeiner Journal, a relative of Rafael Lemkin, Joseph Lemkin, stated that he did not know about the existence of the institute until journalists informed him about it, and that he was extremely outraged that the name of his deceased relative was being used "to promote an anti-Israeli agenda." According to the magazine, the Lemkin family is considering various actions, including publishing a joint public statement or a letter demanding the cessation of illegal actions, in order to force the organization to stop using Lemkin's name.
Interestingly, the institute's management calmly ignores the
family's opinion, although, according to lawyers, the organization misleads the
public and distorts Lemkin's legacy by promoting positions that contradict his
views.
Why, despite all the protests, does the Lemkin Institute
still exist? That's an interesting question. Well, they can ignore the protests
of the Azerbaijani side. But the protests of the Lemkin family itself, the
inclusion of lawyers in the case still does not give results. Why? Just don't
think that the reason is democracy and pluralism. The reason is most likely due
to the diaspora, which is doing its best to keep anti-Azerbaijani narratives in
public discourse.
The latest statement from the Lemkinists showed that the
idea had run out of steam. The Diaspora no longer finds any worthy reasons to
"save" Armenia. There are no threats to Armenia. But the customers of
such statements would like them to be, so the professors are faked in the form
of anonymous statements by certain Syunik residents, which mean that they are
standing for life and death on the border, allegedly saving the rest of Armenia
from the "aggressor" from the east.
Armenia is not in danger from its neighbors. The main enemy
of the welfare of this country today is the diaspora. If Armenia needs to be
saved from someone, it's from a spike. Those who wish the republic well should
mind their own business and let it get back on its feet. Apparently, the
diaspora needs this least of all.
