Clive Owen starstruck by Bowie, Gerrard

22 January 2010 [16:00] - TODAY.AZ
Clive Owen has admitted that he got "very shy and tongue-tied" in the presence of footballer Steven Gerrard and musician David Bowie.

Owen, a Liverpool FC supporter, said that crossing paths with two of his idols are the only times he has ever been starstruck.

"I've met a lot of big actors and don't really get phased - but David Bowie and Steven Gerrard, I was in trouble!" he said. "I have Gerrard's shirt from a derby game which [Everton player] Tim Cahill got for me. He grabbed Gerrard's shirt and gave it to me."

Speaking to DS, Owen explained that his wife cannot understand his and his daughters' obsession with football.

"It's freaking my wife out! She doesn't understand the passion. She's never ever been [to a game] but she's very confused, the girls sit and watch the games with me."

Owen's latest film The Boys Are Back opens in cinemas today.
