St. Petersburg issues sentence on Azerbaijani man for stabbing policeman

A court in St. Petersburg has issued a sentenced to a citizen of Azerbaijan, who has stabbed two policemen.
Krasnoselsk district court of St. Petersburg has issued a sentenced to a citizen of Azerbaijan Elchin Tagiev who was found guilty of committing a crime under part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code (use of violence not dangerous to life or health, or threat to use violence against a government official or his relatives in connection with their execution of duties).

October 8, 2009, 27-year-old citizen of Azerbaijan Elchin Tagiev, being in an apartment building on the Zagreb Boulevard in St. Petersburg, resisted two officers of the Criminal Investigation Office at the Finland Station.

Trying to hide from the police who acted lawfully, Tagiev stabbed them with a knife. One of the employees received a cut wound in the elbow and wrist. Tagiev wounded the second policeman in the thigh.

The court sentenced Elchin Tagiyev to 8 months in jail in a penal colony.
