Heavy rainfall in southern regions of Azerbaijan

Heavy rainfall began in southern regions of Azerbaijan last night.

The rainfall flooded some agricultural fields and private farms, as well as parts of Alat-Astara highway passing through Parakand village of Lankaran region and Tangarud village of Astara region creating traffic problems there. Streets and pedestrian areas in the town of Lankaran were also flooded.

The level of water in the rivers and channels rose. Lankaran-Lerik and Masalli-Yardimli highways are still open. The rainfall created power supply problem in some mountainous settlements.

The emergency commissions of both regions said still no requests have been received from the citizens for help.
