
Azerbaijan will put Remote Surveillance and Control System into operation this year for controlling the ships in the national sector of the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan State Maritime Administration sources said.
The system supplied with modern equipments for the first time in the history of Caspian navigation will record all arriving and departing ships in the basin. It will be different from other coastal guards systems. The coastal guards control the sea borders only, but the new surveillance system will control all the Caspian water area. The system will send all information to the Coordination Center, which has an opportunity to help any ship addressing for the assistance, to make decisions and recommendations.
The system will provide satellite control over the ships’ speed, direction of navigation, as well as cargo. Remote Surveillance and Control System is being established by the famous companies of the world, including SAAB (Sweden), PB-RADICOM-APS (Denmark), Kibernetika (Spain) and Geomatika (Russia).
