Azerbaijan-Korea trade turnover nears $300 mln

"This year will be successful for ties between Azerbaijan and Korea and the global financial crisis will not have any influence on the economies of our countries", said Korean ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Kwang Chul, according to AzerTac.
The ambassador noted that currently Azerbaijani economy is developing very intensively.

"Owing to a special financial stimulation of the non-oil sector, as well as positive growth trends in construction, services and agriculture, Azerbaijan has strengthened its external positions and assets.

Thus, the volume of trade turnover between our countries has neared $300 mln. To raise this turnover it is planned to implement a number of projects in the coming 3-4 years in Azerbaijan. These projects will be implemented in the sphere of construction, transport, education, energy, communication and other spheres.

Currently, a number of leading states suffer from financial crisis. I am confident that the potential capacities of Azerbaijan and Korea will allow overcome this crisis without losses", noted the Korean diplomat.

The ambassador also added that the next project to be implemented in cooperation with Azerbaijani side, is related to the construction of a new shipyard at Garadagh region on which different weight ships will be built.

"Moreover, an implementation of the project on reconstruction of the railroad from Baku to Georgian border will start this year. It is also planned to construct a Baku city circle road, lay a bridge over the sea from Baku bay to the Zykh settlement. Currently, one of the Korean companies is working at the project of the intellectual transport management system in Azerbaijan", concluded Lu Kwang Chul.
