The public prosecutor petitioned for postponing the trial. The appeals of four prisoners will be considered.
A group of human rights defenders appealed to President Ilham Aliyev and chief of Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev for unbiased investigation of Medetov's case. They said they will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights if the decision of the Supreme Court is unjust.
Mushfig Medetov was arrested in 1996 and sentenced to 11-year imprisonment. Criminal case was again launched about him on October 7, 2005 on articles 149 (violent assault) and 134 (threatening to kill or damage health) of the criminal code and he was sentenced to 13 years. Appeals court reduced his imprisonment by 11 years. Five more men besides Nadir Selifov faced charges on the case – Rehman Ebulhesenov, Ershad Gahramanov, Fariz Mammadov, Mushfig Selifov and Ilgar Bedelov. APA
