Dmitri Shostakovitch festival to start in Baku

As Trend reports, the Festival's organizers are the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The festival will be opened at the Muslim Magomayev Azerbaijan State Philharmonic where the Russia's State Academic Symphonic Orchestra conducted by the famous musician and cellist Mstislav Rostropovitch will perform the Symphony N1 and the part from the opera "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk".

The evenings of the camera music will be held at Baku Jazz centre and the Muslim Magomayev Azerbaijan State Philharmonic in the framework of the week of Shostakovitch, there will be concerts of the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra and musical groups from Russia. The conference and the roundtable "Shostakovitch and modernity", dedicated to the creative activity of the great composer will be held during the week.
