For the fifth time nearly in a month, Azerbaijan’s armed forces have annihilated a drone of the Armenian armed forces while it attempted to fly over Azerbaijani positions.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on August 6 that two Armenian Krunk-25 tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), trying to fly over the Azerbaijani armed forces’ positions in the Aghdam region’s direction along the frontline, were destroyed thanks to vigilance of Azerbaijani army’s air defense units.

The ministry said the Krunk-25 tactical UAV is designed for conducting aerial reconnaissance at tactical depth.

The UAV has programmable autopilot and is equipped with video and photo cameras.

Its maximum flight altitude is 5,400 meters, take-off weight is 60 kg, length is 3.8 meters, and wingspan is five meters.

The UAV has maximum flight duration of five hours and cruising speed of 150 km h.

On July 29, Azerbaijani Army destroyed DJI Inspire1 (Quadcopter) drone of the Armenian armed forces.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani military destroyed three Armenian drones - two on the frontline in the Tartar region, one - on the frontline in the direction of the Fizuli region.

Defying all international calls to abide by the ceasefire agreement with Azerbaijan, Armenia still continues to aggravate tension on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops with constant provocations on frontline.

Last January, Azerbaijani armed forces destroyed an Armenian unmanned aerial vehicle while it was flying over Azerbaijani positions in Aghdam region on the frontline.

In late 2014, a military helicopter belonging to Armenian armed forces was downed by the Azerbaijani armed forces while it was attempting to carry out provocative actions on the frontline.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994 but Armenia continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions. Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
