The sun has risen in Baku, but the roads are still covered in ice, which is a threat for both pedestrians and vehicles.

The abnormal cold will remain in Baku until February 7, Azerbaijan's National Hydrometeorology Department of Azerbaijan's Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry said.

During this period, the temperature will be 4-8 degrees below zero, mainly without precipitation, but meteorologists do not exclude a short snow on February 7.

Partly cloudy, dry weather is expected in Baku and the Absheron peninsula on February 4. A short snow and a southwest wind are possible during the day, and frosty weather will continue. Temperature will be 6-8 degrees below zero at night, and 0-2 degrees below zero in the afternoon.

Azerbaijan's regions are not much different from its capital. In lowland areas, temperature will be 6-11 degrees below zero at night and 2-3 degrees below zero in the afternoon, the forecasters say. In the mountains, temperature will be 15-20 degrees below zero at night and 4-9 degrees below zero in the afternoon.

The situation will not change for the better until mid-February, the forecasters say. By the end of February, there will be significant temperature fluctuations.

Baku traffic police noted that restrictions on the movement of vehicles were lifted on all the roads of Azerbaijan.
