Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has become a member of Nizami Ganjavi International Centre.

In November, former Romanian President Emil Konstantinesku, former Serbian President Boris Tadic, former Estonian President Arnold Ruutel and former Latvian President Valdis Zatlers joined the centre.

Currently 14 former heads of states are represented at the centre.

The Nizami Ganjavi International Centre was established on September 30, 2012 in Ganja by a group of prominent world public figures under the leadership of former Latvian president Vaira Vike-Freiberga and director of the Library of Alexandria and former first vice president of the World Bank Ismail Serageldin.

Priorities at the centre include the recognition and promotion of heritage of great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi.

The centre's work and activity is highly regarded by UNESCO and plays a significant role in facilitating dialogue between Turkic, Greek, Indian, Persian and Kurdish people.
