Armenian servicemen burn 17457 ha area in Agdam region

“Natural resources of the occupied Agdam region have been plundered for 20 years. The region had 1736 ha of state forest, 710 ha collective forest, 560 ha suburban forest before the occupation. 64 863 ths cbm sawn stone, 140 464 ths tons Chobandagh limestone, 44 708 ths tons Boyahmedli and 25 197 ths tons Shorbulag clay deposits of Aghdam were left in the occupied territories. The length of Khachinchay - the largest river passing through the region is 104 km, water-collecting area is 657 sq m,” says the article published by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources on the 20th anniversary of the occupation of Agdam region.

It also says that 14 Eastern plane trees aged 150-250 years were protected as natural monuments in Aghdam city and 71 Eastern plane trees aged 400 years.

The Ministry’s operations section supervising the devastating effects to the environment and natural resources in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan detected that natural resources in the region were destroyed by the Armenians after the occupation. Eastern plane trees aged 400 years were cut and taken to Armenia.

17457 ha pasture area was burned by the Armenian servicemen in the occupied Novruzlu, Yusifjanli, Marzili, Bash Gervend, Kangarli, Chelik, Garadaghli-Kengerlisi, Goytepe, Gulchuluk villages, Uzundere, Yedikhirman and Shahbulag rock massifs of the region. A number of partridges, pheasants and adders, which had been included into the Red Book and Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, were killed in the fire.
