Foreign company to investigate hacker attacks

19 January 2012 [16:46] - TODAY.AZ
The U.S. company Symantec has involved its global structures to investigate hacker attacks which were made on Monday on the websites of a number of Azerbaijani state and public organizations, Alexander Yakunin, Symantec's sales director for Kazakhstan, Central Asia and Caucasus reported.

He said the work in this direction is continuing, and the company has offered to take appropriate measures which, as any security measures, are not publicized. "This is akin to war," Yakunin said. "Suffering side will hardly share information with attacker, what measures it has taken to defend from similar incidents. Nevertheless, I should say that work is underway, and appropriate measures are being taken."

As regards to speculations that this attack was done by a determined state, in his opinion, they remain to be rumors and require confirmation. "This is large work which we will do," Yakunin noted. "Taking into account that information is strategic importance, it will be close, like in any other similar case."
