Turkey, Israel sign new civil aviation agreement

Turkey and Israel signed a deal enabling more than one airlines companies to make flights between the two countries.

Transportation Ministry Civil Aviation Directorate General issued a statement and said under the negotiations carried out between Turkish and Israeli civil aviation executives on December 28, 2009 in Ankara, more than one airlines companies would be able to make flights between the two countries.

The delegations convened as the agreement signed between Turkey and Israel in 1951 could not meet demands of current conditions. The delegations signed an agreement including new flight destinations and removing frequency restrictions.

Under the agreement that was signed by the Turkish and Israeli civil aviation executives, Turkey and Israel would be able to name more than one airlines companies.

Turkish airlines companies will be able to make flights from Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya and Dalaman to Tel Aviv, Haifa and Ovda/Eilat in Israel. Also, under the agreement Israeli airlines companies will be able to make scheduled flights from Tel Aviv, Haifa and Ovda/Eilat to Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya and Dalaman.
