Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its concerns about Israel's decision to build nearly 700 new settlement units in eastern Jerusalem.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry called on Israel to think about its decision once again and refrain from such actions in Palestinian territories under occupation.
"The decision to enlarge the settlement units is clearly a violation of the international law. The decision can harm efforts to revive the peace process in the region and lead to a distrust between the parties. The parties' refraining from such unilateral practices about issues which should be discussed under negotiations for final status, is of great importance," it said.
