The volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Romania increased by more than $200 million in three quarters of 2017.

This figure was announced during the meeting between Kazakhstan's Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Dan Neculaescu in Astana.

The sides agreed to intensify political, economic, cultural and humanitarian contacts, interparliamentary, interdepartmental and business ties, relations in education, science and tourism.

Neculaescu noted that Romania highly appreciates Kazakhstan's contribution to the strengthening of international and regional security and stability, as well as the development of intercultural and inter-confessional dialogue.

They highlighted the great prospects for mutually beneficial economic cooperation and implementation of the transit and transport potential of both countries in the light of the implementation of the large-scale international initiative "One Belt - One Way" launched by China.

The diplomats also discussed cooperation within the framework of the European Union, noting the importance of a qualitative implementation of the process initiated this year for the preparation of the new EU strategy for Central Asia, which should be approved in 2019 during Romania's presidency at the EU.
