Eurasian Economic Union heads of state to meet in St. Petersburg

Leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia will meet in Saint Petersburg on December 26, the Kremlin said.

The meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will accompany the session of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).

The heads of member states will review the first two years of the Eurasian Economic Union’s activity, approve the main directions of the international activity of the Union for 2017 and outline the guidelines for its further development.

The summit is planned to end with signing of EAEU Treaty on the Customs Code. A number of other important multilateral documents are expected to be adopted.

The member countries will discuss issues of combating terrorism and extremism at CSTO meeting. It is planned to exchange views on key issues of global and regional agenda, including illegal trade and weapons trafficking.
