Iran ready to join UN peacekeeping missions

Iran is ready to contribute to the UN peacekeepers missions by providing personnel and logistic equipment, an Iranian envoy said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that creating any mechanism by the UN aimed at hindering obstacles against peacekeeping operations, the deployment of peacekeepers, extending the period of mission and operations must be carried out within the goals and principles written in the UN charter…,” IRNA news agency quoted Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Gholamali Khoshrou, as saying at the UN general assembly in New York.

Khoshrou further called on the international body to confront the peacekeepers who are involved in illegal actions such as the sexual abuse of locals.
