Turkey hosts opening of third bridge over Bosphorus

The opening ceremony of third bridge named 'Yavuz Sultan Selim' over the Bosphorus Strait was held in Turkey, TRT Haber TV channel reported Aug. 26.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and First Emir of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa took part in the bridge’s opening ceremony, according to the channel.

It was earlier reported that the construction of the bridge named 'Yavuz Sultan Selim' began in May 2013 and ended March 7, 2016.

The bridge is 1.85 kilometers long and 59 meters wide. The bridge was built at an altitude of 320 meters above the Bosphorus.

The fee for using the bridge will amount to $3. The project cost is estimated at $3 billion.
