The Turkey-Russia relations, cracked after the jet incident last November, gain a new pace to get normalized as the two countries have intensified efforts to eliminate the unpleasant outcome.

Turkey and Russia need to normalize their relations as soon as possible, says Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek.

"We are here to normalize the situation and our relations at an accelerated pace after it was ceased on November 24," RIA News quoted Simsek as saying at the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.

Turkey told the Russian Federation regarding the measures taken to ensure aviation security, he added.

The crisis in relations between the two countries began after the incident with the downed Russian plane. After the incident, the Russian president signed a decree on measures to ensure national security and launch special economic measures against Turkey.

On June 29 the presidents of Russia and Turkey held a telephone conversation. The heads of two states agreed to work out the possibility of holding near-term personal meeting.

The last talks between the two leaders were held last fall at the summit of "Big Twenty" in Antalya.

Also, previously President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter to his Russian counterpart, where he expressed condolences to the family of the deceased pilot of SU-24 and regret over the incident with the Russian aircraft.

In turn, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich at the meeting with Simsek said that apologies of the Turkish side served as a basis for the restoration of relations between Russia and Turkey.

Previously, Turkish media reported that Ankara might allow Russia to use the Incirlik airbase for the common fight against Daesh.

"The prime minister has signed a decision to resume the work of the intergovernmental commission. I think this will allow us to move forward," said Deputy Prime Minister.

Moreover, the Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 9 in St. Petersburg. The issues of normalization of relations and a series of economic and political issues are expected to be discussed during the visit.

Commenting earlier on the warming in relations between Russia and Turkey, the Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim thanked Azerbaijan for assistance in normalization of relations with Moscow.
