23 April 2016 [18:00] - TODAY.AZ

Turkmenistan and Thailand have agreed to increase the joint efforts in political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry said Apr.23.

A Thai delegation led by the ambassador-at-large of the country's Foreign Ministry Chalermpol Thanchitt is on a working visit to Ashgabat.

The parties expressed commitment to the development of relations in various spheres of mutual interest and discussed the possibilities of organizing high-level visits and exchanging business delegations in the spheres of energy, food industry and tourism.

The meeting participants emphasized the potential of Turkmenistan's positive neutrality in fulfilling the tasks envisaged in the Sustainable Development Goals.

It was earlier reported that Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov plans to pay an official visit to Thailand and sign a number of documents to strengthen the legal framework of the interstate relations.

Berdimuhamedov noted that one of the important vectors of the country's foreign policy strategy is to boost the mutually beneficial partnership with the South-East Asian countries and Asia-Pacific region.
