Iranian, Turkish ministers stress boosting economic ties

08 April 2016 [11:12] - TODAY.AZ

Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi and Turkish Economy Minister Mustafa Elita? in a meeting here underlined the need for the expansion of economic relations, IRNA reported.

"The goal for reaching the trade balance of $30 billion is a realistic and achievable goal," Vaezi said.

Elita?, for his part, said that despite the fact that there are 57 Muslim countries in the world, their share in international trade is less than 20 percent of the global transactions.

Turkey and Iran have three common borders with customs houses. One of them connects the two neighbors through a railway network.

This comes as two Iranian banks have reportedly applied to do business in Turkey. The media in Turkey have reported that two Iranian lenders have applied to do business in the Turkish market.
