China, Uzbekistan hail stategic partnership, eye co-op boost

The relations between Uzbekistan and China are developing dynamically in the spirit of strategic partnership, heads of Uzbekistan and China said at a meeting in Beijing.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived in Beijing to attend the celebrations in connection with the 70th anniversary of the victory in World War II on the invitation of the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Karimov congratulated Xi Jinping on the significant date and said that the Chinese people made a great contribution to this victory.

The Chinese president congratulated the president of Uzbekistan with the country's Independence Day and said that the people of Uzbekistan, who fought against fascism in World War II, supported the people of China.

“We will never forget it and appreciate our current mutual cooperation,” Xi Jinping said.

During the summit talks held in Beijing, the sides discussed in detail the current state of mutual relations and prospects for their further development.

Mutually beneficial Uzbek-Chinese cooperation currently covers all areas of politics, economy, trade, industry, finance, construction, science, education and culture.

The sides develop their relations on the basis of the joint declaration on establishing strategic partnership, the agreement on friendship and cooperation, joint declaration on further developing and intensifying the bilateral strategic partnership.

Uzbekistan and China jointly implement a number of large investment projects such as the construction of Central Asia-China gas pipeline, electrification of Angren-Pap railway.

Moreover, the two sides organize production facilities at Navoi, Jizzakh and Angren industrial zones of Uzbekistan.

The volume of bilateral trade turnover between Uzbekistan and China has tripled in the last six years and reached $4.7 billion in 2014. This is while this figure grew by 11.7 percent in H1 of 2015.

Furthermore, the sides discussed regional and international problems of mutual interest.
