The deepening social crisis may even extend to the moral degradation of Armenian society, promising serious negative results, experts believe.

The social crisis appeared by force from the negative impacts of the military dictatorship, financial difficulties, and excessive unemployment.

Sociological studies show that the population is facing permanent psychological pressure.

The crisis touches almost all areas. Problems remaining from an earthquake 27 years ago, the occupation of Azerbaijani territory, closed borders with Azerbaijan and Turkey, and a failed social and political transformation among others are the main factors contributing to the stagnation of development in the country.

Meanwhile, the Armenian youth continues to flee the country, fearing for their future. Unemployment is not the only reason forcing them to leave the county, but an instinctive desire to live better and secure lives.

Armenia is held hostage by a handful of rogues, which are increasingly enriched under a corrupt system, forcing people to leave the country.

Observations show that this dire situation is increasing incidences of depression, early deaths, prevalence of schizophrenia, and other serious psychological diseases among the population.

According to international organizations, about 10 percent of Armenia's population, or roughly 340,000 people, are suffering from a mental disorder. In reality, the situation is even more depressing.

Another reason for the deteriorating situation is an increasing number of religious sects. Citizens joining such groups are susceptible to an unstable psychological state. According to local NGOs, there are about 30 churches belonging to non-traditional religious sects, and membership totals upwards of 180-200,000 people.

The tragedy is compounded by the fact that the country lives under a criminal regime, not by law.
