Uzbekistan’s new deputy PM to supervise youth policy

A position of deputy prime minister in charge of youth policy has been created as a result of the structural changes in Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers, said the message posted on the website of the country’s government July 30.

Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Bakhodir Khodiyev has been appointed the head of the newly created complex on youth policy, education, culture and sports, according to the message.

The corresponding documents were signed by Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov.

Before this appointment, Khodiyev served as the state advisor to Uzbekistan’s president for science, education and culture. Previously, he headed the Ministry of Higher and Secondary-Specialized Education and served as rector of Tashkent State Economic University.

Moreover, a complex on health care, environment and people’s quality of life led by Adkham Ikramov will operate within Uzbekistan’s government.

Ikramov previously served as deputy prime minister in charge of educational, health and social protection issues.
