28 July 2015 [13:59] - TODAY.AZ

One of the avenues in Istanbul, Turkey, has been closed off due to a threat of terrorist attack, the television channel Kanal7 reported July 28.

On July 28, the police found an abandoned pram on one of the avenues of Istanbul.

The police fear that there may be an explosive device in the pram.

A group of sappers has arrived at the scene.

Earlier it was reported that the illegal leftist groups are preparing terrorist attacks in Turkey.

According to the intelligence sources, a number of the members of the Syrian wing of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party – the Democratic Union Party (PYD) – infiltrated into Turkey from Syria under the guise of refugees, and they are preparing attacks on police stations and military facilities.

Reportedly, over 90 members of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) have penetrated into Turkey from Syria.

The activeness of the PYD terrorists is associated with an operation of the Turkish Air Force, held against the PKK militants in Iraq.

On July 25, the Turkish Air Force launched a major military air operation in northern Iraq where the PKK camps are located.

The details of the operation are not disclosed.

Turkey’s parliament passed in 2012 the so-called “Syrian mandate”. Under the mandate, Ankara may take any actions to fight against terrorism and other threats tuned against the country, reflect the danger that may spring from terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria

Ankara, according to the mandate, also may protect the country’s interests before and after crisis, and, if necessary, engage the army in military operations in other countries (Syria and Iraq).

The mandate stipulates the possibility of presence of foreign military units in the country and their use (if necessary) at the discretion of the Turkish government.
