Iranian president says nuclear deal changes views towards Iran as threat

15 July 2015 [15:15] - TODAY.AZ

The nuclear deal with world powers is a political, legal and technical victory for Iran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.

The agreement has changed the wrong viewpoint towards the Islamic Republic, the official website of the president reported July 15.

The president underlined that Iran was called a threat in the West, but the agreement has changed that.

He also praised the Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s support for nuclear talks.

Iran will fulfill its commitments in the nuclear agreement, unless the other party to not be committed, Rouhani added. He further said that no deal is perfect, adding there should be always a compromise.

Iran and P5 +1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) reached a historic agreement on Iran’s nuclear program July 14.

The negotiations ended with adoption of a joint comprehensive action plan. If Iran carries out this plan, the economic and financial sanctions earlier imposed on it by the UN Security Council, the US and EU will be lifted.
