Iran optimistic about PMD concerns resolution

03 July 2015 [14:57] - TODAY.AZ

Iran is optimistic that the concerns over possible military dimensions (PMD) to its nuclear program will be resolved.

IAEA Secretary General Yukiya Amano’s trip to Tehran was successful and constructive and Iran is willing to cooperate with the IAEA to raise misunderstandings about the PMD, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

A good opportunity has come about to address claims that were made in the past in a new, calm atmosphere, he said, IRNA news agency reported July 3.

He added Tehran is ready to cooperate with the IAEA to abolish accusations and prove that Iran has a blank record.

Araqchi’s remarks followed IAEA Secretary General Yukiya Amano’s trip to Tehran on July 2.

President Rouhani and Amano discussed topics such as Iran-IAEA relations within the cooperation framework document and how to expedite resolving all issues, including the past nuclear activities of Iran.

Amano had met US Secretary of State John Kerry in Vienna before travelling to Tehran.

Iran and the P5+1 are in intensive talks to hammer a comprehensive nuclear agreement until July 7. The sides reached a framework deal in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2.
