03 July 2015 [14:01] - TODAY.AZ

A senior Iranian diplomat says the Islamic Republic and the International Atomic Energy Agency have reached a common understanding on further cooperation.

Iranian Ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi said the two have agreed on a general framework how to work on removing the international body’s questions regarding Iran's nuclear activities, ISNA news agency reported July 3.

The two are to hold an expert meeting to define a timetable and the executive measures needed to meet IAEA questions.

IAEA Secretary General Yukiya Amano visited Tehran on July 2 to discuss mechanisms for clarification of key nuclear issues with top Iranian officials.

He met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani.

Rouhani said during his meeting with Amano that the IAEA should play its proper role in the nuclear talks between Iran and the P+1 group without being influenced by world powers.

Negotiators from Iran and the P5+1 group of countries - the United Sated, Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany - are working to reach a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear program in the Austrian city of Vienna. The two sides have agreed to continue talks to strike a final deal by July 7.
