Tehran says unsatisfied with nuclear talks’ progress

22 June 2015 [15:37] - TODAY.AZ

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran is not satisfied with the progress of the ongoing negotiations on the country’s nuclear program.

Drafting the agreement is still underway at various levels, he said, IRIB news agency reported June 22.

Speaking in Vienna, Araqchi said Iran is attending the talks at both diplomatic and expert levels. On the other side, the EU deputy foreign policy chief, Helga Schmid is leading the political delegation on behalf of the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany), and expert groups from the six countries are attending the expert negotiations.

Araqchi was to leave Vienna for Luxembourg where he would join Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to hold a plenary with foreign ministers of the UK, France, and Germany, as well as EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.

The Iranian team will then hold bilateral talks with the foreign ministers of the three P5+1 member states, he stated.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister said talks are going on slowly and do not satisfy Iran, and that the Islamic Republic will not go for a deal at any price or at a loss of national interests.

He further raised the possibility that US Secretary of State John Kerry may also join the talks in Vienna this week.

According to a self-imposed deadline, Tehran and the six powers have until the end of June to reach a comprehensive deal out of the talks.
