Turkish citizens to vote in parliamentary election in Baku May 31

Turkish citizens on the territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) will be able to vote in Turkish parliamentary election on May 31, the message of the Central Election Commission of Turkey (YSK) said April 30.

The message said that citizens on the territory of Iran, Georgia and Lebanon will be also able to vote in parliamentary election in Turkey May 31.

Some 20 political parties will participate in the parliamentary election in Turkey to be held June 7, 2015.

Some 53.765,231 million electors will vote in the parliamentary election in Turkey.

The number of voters outside of Turkey will amount to 2.9 million people, the commission said. Some 112 polling stations will be established in 54 countries.

Representatives of 31 political parties will take part in the parliamentary election.

More than 70 current MPs from the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey will not be able to take part in parliamentary election in 2015.

This decision was made in accordance with the internal regulations, according to which MPs have no right to be elected to Parliament for more than three terms.

Such well-known representatives of the Justice and Development Party, as deputy prime ministers Bulent Arinc, Besir Atalay and Ali Babacan, Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag, deputy chairman of the party Huseyin Celik, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will not be able to take part in the parliamentary election of 2015 in Turkey.

During the parliamentary election, which took place in Turkey in 2011, the ruling Justice and Development Party gained 46.66 percent of the vote. Some 20.85 percent of the vote went to the Republican People’s Party (CHP), and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) collected 14.29 percent of the vote.
