Armenia's former president launched the new phase of his periodical "attacks" against the incumbent government in Armenia. His recent interview was somehow a manifestation of the blunders made by the Karabakh clan.

While clarifying his abstinence from the upcoming presidential rally in 2018, Robert Kocharyan, second president of Armenia, said it was unacceptable for him since two Karabakh-born old colleagues locked horns to rise to power.

According to media, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan and Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan will come up as the major presidential runners to take on the office in Baghramyan 26 street in Yerevan.

Kocharyan confirmed that namely he opened the presidential office's doors to Sargsyan in the fullness of time.

"Promoting Sargsyan as my successor was a decision of mine, and then he himself beat a path to the second term," he said.

However, Kocharyan believes the political competition ahead of the elections is somehow like a puppet game, and lacks the power to contribute to the effective government activity sparking apathy in the society instead.

Commenting on the existing political and economic conditions in Armenia, Kocharyan said it triggered the pace of the people's outflow from the country.

"The current trend in migration is not a labor migration at all. Massive outflow is now very dangerous amid the low birth rate and widespread ageing challenges," he noted.

The economic stagnation in Armenia is not anymore a secret also for Kocharyan, who slammed the government for issuing periodical false data on the economic growth.

"Will the economy grow on the background of the decreasing investments and expanding loans? If there is a three-fold rise in the ratio of the government debt against the GDP, no any achievement in terms of economy could be expected," he said.

Armenia's public debt hovers around $4.9 billion being on par with 51 percent of the GDP as the highest ever level that has been registered in Armenia so far, according to official data.

Almost in all addresses, Kocharyan has repeatedly claimed that the incumbent authorities were doing nothing to cure the country’s fundamental ills. He believes positions of the authorities and the society on the state of affairs in Armenia is diametrically opposite.

Likening the current regime's policy to a "political monopoly" has been viewed as Kocharyan's most scorching jibe to Sargsyan. Only radical changes, which are now impeded by conflicting interests of ruling elite and country, would eradicate the ongoing evil in Armenia, believes the former president.

Kocharyan was also at the forefront of the recent political turmoil in Armenia when Sargsyan turned to an all-out repression against opposition foregoer Gagik Tsarukyan last month.

Several political experts, including Lernik Aleksanyan, Member of Parliament from ruling Republican Party said Kocharyan's criticism of the situation in Armenia was an obvious aspiration to return to politics.
