Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu slammed Armenia being the main cause of problems in the South Caucasus, the Anadolu news agency reported on March 13.

Cavusoglu said that Armenians fundamentally rejected the Turkish government's efforts to “land a helping hand” to the South Caucasus nation.

The foreign ministers of Armenia and Turkey signed Armenian-Turkish protocols on establishing diplomatic relations and the principles of relations between the two countries in the presence of the foreign ministers of Russia, France and U.S. Secretary of State in 2009.

President Serzh Sargsyan stated that the Armenian parliament will ratify the Armenian-Turkish protocols after Turkish parliament does it. As it has not happened, Sargsyan signed a decree to suspend all ratification procedures on April 22 in 2010.

Armenia suggested removing from its parliamentary agenda a clause on ratification as long as Turkey is ready to continue the process of normalization of bilateral relations without any preconditions.

Such an unreal requirement obviously stands for Armenia's unwillingness for peace. This move, also clearly mirrored its major aspiration to see the world recognize its so-called 1915 “Armenian genocide”. Cavusoglu drew attention to the fact that Armenia is trying to put pressure on different governments to achieve such goals.

Armenia and Turkey, which share a common border of 330 km, have yet to establish diplomatic relations. To normalize bilateral relations Ankara called on Yerevan to abandon all steps toward the recognition of its fallacious “Armenian genocide’s” and end its unlawful stance toward Azerbaijan's occupied territories - the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Since the 1960s Armenians around the world have lobbied for the recognition of their fictitious “genocide” through different powerful governments.

Despite its efforts Armenia has failed to convince the international community, due to a lack of evidence. So far most western powers -- the UK, France and Israel for example have resisted Armenia's fantasy.

Cavusoglu also voiced his hope that U.S. position towards the “genocide” question will remain unchanged, as it might evidently undermine relations between Washington and Ankara.
