Iran has tested a new strategic weapon in the last day of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) massive drill that kicked off on Feb. 25.

The IRGC’s naval, land and airborne forces participated in the third and last day of the major drill dubbed “Prophet Mohammad- 9” which was held in the Gulf and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian media did not unveil details about the weapon which was tested at the final stage of the drill, however the IRGC’s naval commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said that the new weapon will play a decisive role in increasing Iran’s naval force power to combat the threats of the Islamic Revolution enemies, in particular the US, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported Feb. 27.

IRGC also tested some of its new military equipment and weapons including the RPH reconnaissance drone equipped with powerful cameras, Jamarat missile with range of 14 kilometers , Ramait roadside mine, Sayyad bounding mine, Asef 23mm gatling gun, Arash shoulder-launched weapon and sniper rifle Siyavash in the second day of the drill.

Jafari said on Feb. 25 that the drill is a “deterrence message to the Islamic Republic’s trans-regional enemies.”

On the first day of the drill the IRGC Naval Force successfully targeted a US aircraft carrier model.
