The Georgian and Lithuanian top officials applauded the close bilateral relations between the two countries, in Davos, on January 22.

Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite have mainly mulled the European Union visa liberalization issues, implementation of the provisions of association and free trade agreements, as well as preparations for the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit in Riga this May.

The two high-ranking officials have also discussed the regional security issues alongside the progress that Georgia achieved during implementation of the European reforms.

"Lithuania supports the European choice of the Georgian people and stands ready to offer expert assistance on issues of implementation of reforms,” Grybauskaite said.

She also positively assessed the policy pursued by the Georgian government in regard to Russia.

Meanwhile, a trade mission from Netherlands will visit Georgia this year, as Garibashvili shook hands with his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte to strengthen mutual relations with Netherlands.

The two top diplomats discussed the opportunities for strengthening the cooperation in the fields of economy, culture and education.

Trade turnover between Georgia and the Netherlands increased by 21.5 percent in 2014, up to $158,110 to make Netherlands one of the major countries investing in Georgia.

Garibashvili thanked Rutte for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the Dutch observers’ participation in the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia.
