The Georgian State minister believes that Abkhazia has to decide between two options - disappearance or a European future with Georgia.

Georgian State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic ?ntegration Alexi Petriashvili noted that a meeting of the Security Council discussed the authorities' proposal to Abkhazians and Ossetians. "We have one more time discussed Georgian government's proposal to our brothers in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Our friends there have only two options - complete disappearance or a European future with strong and democratic Georgia. I think, our Abkhazian brothers are aware of it," he said..

Meanwhile, the Abkhazian authorities said the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's proposal on the autonomous status within Georgia was the next illusory utopia.

"Garibashvili's proposal is an illusory utopia which denies to realize the existing reality," the Abkhazian government stated.

Authorities of Abkhazia, a separatist republic that claimed its independence from Georgia in 2006 and is backed by Russia, also added that Abkhazia is firmly going on the way to independence and will line up its own policy.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has earlier proposed to Abkhazians and Ossetians an autonomy within Georgia saying it was his friendly offer.

At the same time, Garibashvili said Abkhazian and South Ossetian residents' efforts to create an independent state was a utopia. "You will not be happy without us and we will not be happy without you," he said.

Georgian armed forces launched military actions in the territory of its South Ossetia region on August 8, 2008. They clashed with Russian military troops and were forced to leave the region. Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. Tbilisi has strictly condemned Russia's actions and broke off diplomatic relations with Moscow to recognize Abkazia and South Ossetia as occupied territories.
