Turkey uncurtains first domestic jet fighter

Turkey intends to launch a domestically produced fighter, Turkish Research Center for Aerospace Technology (TUSAS) said, Turkish Anadolu agency reported on Jan.17.

The new fighters, the development of which has been ongoing for two years, will be named FX, the agency reported.

The development of the first Turkish fighter will be completed in 2014, according to the agency.

Earlier, Turkish Research Center for Aerospace Technology (TUSAS) developed the first domestic training plane HÜRKU? which will be passed to the country's Air Forces in 2017.

Turkish Defense Industry Executive Committee made a decision to launch the mass production of the HURKUS first domestic trainer aircraft.

Around 15 HURKUS aircraft will be produced in the first stage, according to the Turkish Air Force. The first domestic trainer aircraft HURKUS was successfully tested on Aug. 29, 2013. Around 50 engineers and over 350 professionals worked on the design of the plane.

The center also produces parts for F-16 fighters, Airbus A380 and military Airbus A400M. TUSAS has also started production of diffusers for Airbus A350 since 2012.
