Top official: Turkey needs new constitution

Turkey needs a new constitution, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Beshir Atalay said, Anadolu agency reported on Tuesday.

According to him, the new constitution should ensure freedom and interests of all citizens of the country.

In late October 2011, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter to the leaders of the opposition Republican People's Party and the Nationalist Movement Party calling to take part in negotiations on drafting a new constitution.

Earlier, Erdogan said that Turkey needs a new constitution .
