Kaspersky to do business with U.S. govt

Head of "Kaspersky Lab" Evgeny Kaspersky announced plans to open an office in Washington, DC, where U.S. experts will design protective software for the protection of local infrastructure.
The Russian company "Kaspersky Lab", one of the world`s largest developers of anti-virus, plans to open an office in Washington DC, capital of the United States, in order to sell its products to the U.S. government.

U.S. authorities are trying not to use the solutions in the field of information security, developed by companies from other countries, because they believe that it may be hidden security function.
It is for this reason that, for example, Americans are moving away from the Chinese communications equipment Huawei and ZTE, considering that they use it for commercial and diplomatic espionage.

In order to gain the trust of the American authorities, the head of "Kaspersky Lab" Evgeny Kaspersky is going to hire American professionals to work on products intended for the U.S. government. While in the U.S., they will write the code, test, and compile computer programs.
"American companies rely on 100%. So we have to prove that they can trust us for all 200%. We need to be more American than the Americans themselves, "- said Kaspersky, speaking in the capital of the United States at an international conference on cyber security.

The new team will be working on solutions designed for automated systems that control power plants, water pipelines, refineries and other infrastructure, the protection of which the White House is of paramount importance.

According to Kaspersky, the company is almost ready to begin testing the preliminary version of the first such solutions in Russia. He hopes that such products will eventually occupy a third of the company`s sales.

The desire to learn new segment has a very clear reason. Against the background of declining demand for personal computers the company needs to diversify its portfolio to maintain the momentum of growth. At the end of 2012, PC shipments in the global market declined by 3.2%.
