The Parliament of Georgia adopted on Friday the amendments to the law "On Military Duty and Military Service" in the first reading unanimously by 77 votes. These amendments aim to reduce the period of compulsory military service from 18 to 12 months.
The affect of this change also include those who are already at military service.
In this case, the bill also includes the deferral of military service for those who register for the Unified national exams just after leaving school for admission to the university. Earlier the deferral was applied only to those who are still studying in educational institutions.
It was not specified when the bill will be put to the vote in the second and third reading./Trend/
