
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will meet the New Year together with Georgian servicemen in Afghanistan. As Georgian Presidential Administration told Trend, Saakashvili will visit the Shukvani Combat Outpost of Georgian troops, located in Helmand Province.
President Saakashvili will arrive in Afghanistan for the second time. First, he visited Afghanistan on Feb.20, 2012 and even took part in patrolling.
Some 1,700 Georgian servicemen serve in Afghanistan at present. Georgia has lost 20 people during its participation in NATO operation in Afghanistan
At present the search for a missing Georgian soldier who disappeared on Dec.19 is underway in Afghanistan. A group of Georgian military men under the leadership of the deputy chief of the joint staff, brigadier general Vakhtang Kapanadze was sent to Afghanistan.
