'Azerbaijani parliament pays great attention to cooperation with EP'

First vice speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Ziyafat Asgarov has met with the members of European Parliament (EP). Asgarov briefed the MEPs on Azerbaijan`s development, activity of the parliament, international relations, representation of the political parties in the legislative body, freedom of expression and conscience. He pointed out Azerbaijani parliament pays great attention to cooperation with EP and European Council.

Azerbaijani legislator also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed regret over the fact that EP`s resolution which condemns Armenia`s aggressive policy still remains unfulfilled. He called on European parliamentarians to increase efforts towards fulfillment of the relevant resolution and the other documents related with the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Speaking in the meeting, MEP Dominic Rice said the visit created great opportunity to get comprehensive information about the situation in the region. EP official pointed out the visit shows EP`s great interest in Azerbaijan.
