US Congress delegation visits Azerbaijan`s National NGO Forum

A delegation of the US Congress yesterday visited the National NGO Forum in Baku. The officials of the US Congress administration and assistant congressmen are in Azerbaijan as part of a joint Azerbaijan-US culture and education program.

They met President of the National NGO Forum Rauf Zeyni to discuss the role of environment in civil society, NGO-government relations, funding of NGOs by national and international donors as well as international cooperation.

The Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was also discussed, and Zeyni called US Congress and President Barack Obama to intensify efforts towards settling the problem.

The US delegates said it would be more appropriate for congressmen to visit Azerbaijan to learn the truth.
