German government's human rights ombudsman arrives in Baku

Markus Löning, Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy arrived in Baku on August 14, the German Embassy in Azerbaijan said.

The visit will run until August 17.

He plans to meet with human rights defenders, representatives of the government, opposition and civil society.

Löning will take part in the conference on "UN special mechanism", organized jointly by the German Institute for Human Rights and Azerbaijani Ombudsman's office, headed by Elmira Suleymanova. He also plans to visit a prison.
