
In embassy of Azerbaijan in Hungary the briefing of the deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov took place for representatives of state structures of Hungary and the foreign diplomats accredited in the country and journalists.
The meeting was opened by the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Hungary Vilayat Guliyev. In his remarks the Ambassador told about the purposes of visit of the deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan to Hungary and mentioned questions of dynamically developing relations between two countries.
In his statement, Azerbaijan`s deputy foreign minister concerned three basic themes – the role of Azerbaijan in strengthening of energy safety of Europe, the situation in region of Southern Caucasus and current status of negotiating process on settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Khalafov noted that the Azerbaijan-Hungarian mutual relations dynamically develop and cooperation spheres between two countries extend. The bilateral relations in economic, political and cultural fields have special value, he stressed.
The Azerbaijani diplomat spoke of the basic energy and transport-communication projects in region. He mentioned also the question of mutual relations of Azerbaijan with the neighboring states, having underlined that Baku has built good partner relations with all neighbors, except Armenia. Khalafov told about the reasons of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, and over one million refugees and IDPs.
He reminded that some days ago all civilized community marked the 19th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide committed by the Armenian armed units against the peaceful Azerbaijani population, having informed audience on the facts connected with this monstrous crime, and urged the international community to investigate it by an example of investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ruanda and the former Yugoslavia.
The audience honored memory of the innocently killed people with a minute of silence. After the briefing, a documentary on the Khojaly events was demonstrated.
